Cleaning work environments not only helps get rid of bacteria, a clean and tidy work environment can also boost productivity and morale. Zoflora is the UK’s leading disinfectant and it has confirmed that it kills coronavirus, including the Covid-19 virus. It is also used by Mrs Hinch and her fans because it leaves a lasting fragrant smell in the home. Here are some cleaning tips when it comes to cleaning your study or home office.

Disinfecting work equipment regularly will help those who are working from home to focus on their job without having to worry about germs spreading.

It is essential to keep the workspace clean and it should be cleaned on a weekly if not daily basis.

Sarah Fozzard, Head of Home Hygiene at Zoflora has provided some simple tips on how to keep your home office clean and virus free.

Floor surfaces

The cleaning expert says: “Floor surfaces see some of the highest amounts of daily foot traffic, especially in busy households. Dirty shoes or pets who have been outdoors can spread bacteria and viruses, so it’s vital that floor surfaces are not only cleaned but disinfected correctly.”

Kitchen floors are also breeding grounds for bacteria because when any food particles get dropped on the floor, any bacteria living on the floor will stick to it.

Like all disinfectants, Zoflora has a five minute contact time, meaning the product must be left on a surface for five minutes in order for it to kill viruses.

People working from home may be sat at a desk for more than eight hours a day and so it is essential to keep a desk sanitised on a regular basis to stop the spread of germs and bacteria.

Sarah says: “What’s dirtier, a desk or a toilet seat? It might surprise you to find out desks can contain 400 times more bacteria, according to one study! Eating and drinking at your desk can make things worse, and if you’re suffering from a cold, the virus can be spread onto every surface that you touch.

“To keep your desk virus free, add 2 capfuls of your favourite Zoflora fragrance into a 800ml trigger spray bottle containing water then spray directly onto the desk and wipe over with a cloth to disinfect.”

Not only do germs breed on desks, dust may also build up if a desk is left untouched for several weeks.

Dust is a nuisance as well as being potentially harmful to allergy sufferers and may cause health problems if not cleaned away.

The Zoflora expert added: “Who thinks to wash their hands before using the phone? Given the amount of daily usage they get, your mobile can be a breeding ground for germs. A landline in your home that several people use can easily be responsible for spreading nasty viruses.

“Spray the diluted Zoflora solution onto a dry cloth and wipe over your phone to disinfect and eliminate bacteria.”

Office equipment

Keyboards can hold a lot of bacteria if not wiped regularly and keyboard bacteria can multiply very quickly.

Sarah says: “Office equipment that is handled regularly, such as a keyboard, mouse and laptops, can make perfect environments for bacteria and viruses, especially if you touch them after eating, coughing or sneezing.

“To wipe these devices down, add 2 capfuls of Zoflora into a 800ml trigger spray bottle containing water. Spray the solution onto a dry cloth and wipe over your devices to disinfect and eliminate bacteria. Do not spray Zoflora directly onto electronic devices.”

Even with a bin bag, bins can become extremely dirty and full of germs because food or drink may seep through the bag.

The expert added: “If you don’t keep on top of cleaning your office bin, it can become a breeding ground for bacteria.

“Simply wiping down with Zoflora will not only ensure the bin stays bacteria-free but it’ll also combat those nasty bin odours too.”

Light switches

Sarah continued: “Light switches can be among those unexpected bacteria battlegrounds, simply due to being frequently used by all the family. High traffic spots like this need to be cleaned and disinfected regularly.

“Spray your diluted Zoflora solution onto a dry cloth and wipe over your light switches to disinfect.  Remember not to spray Zoflora directly onto anything electrical.”
